At CHIA, we believe that good health begins with access to trusted information, meaningful partnerships, and practical solutions. Our work translates public health research into clear, actionable resources and programs that promote wellness, prevent disease, strengthen health literacy, and address the social and structural factors that influence health.
We work alongside community members, healthcare providers, public health professionals, employers, and community-based organizations to design sustainable initiatives that reflect the strengths, priorities, and lived experiences of the communities we serve. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to health equity, CHIA is helping build healthier individuals, stronger communities, and lasting improvements in public health.
CHIA has made a positive impact working with many communities including Black Women in the United States. Between August and September 2021, our Black Women’s Learning Institute conducted the Engage. Empower. Educate. survey.
We asked questions under key domains: health concerns, health care access, quality of healthcare, HIV & STIs, and COVID-19. The responses gathered allowed us to better understand and characterize Black women’s health and wellness and create responsive programming.
Black women exist and attempt to thrive with intersecting identities, while navigating a healthcare system that is structurally and systemically designed to be racist, sexist, and transphobic. In April 2023, BWLI released a white paper titled “ANTI-RACIST CLINICAL CARE: Improving Health Outcomes For Black Women”
This white paper contextualizes the historical and systemic discrimination Black women experience in healthcare, and proposes anti-racist clinical care as a means of achieving health equity for all, including Black women.
Our mission is to improve health and wellness for Black women across the lifespan through innovative resources, programmatic support, and culturally-relevant public health education.
We are dedicated to educating the public on sleep and wellness habits, with the goal of improving the daily life and longterm health of our communities.
We are focused on educating families and local communities on wellness and how to improve their health over time through small habits.
We are focused on educating people about how to improve their health on a global level.
CHIA is strategically split into 4 institutes. Each one is tailored to educate the community on a specific sector of public health. This allows us to work with experts in each area and better focus on each community’s specific needs.
